PEA Bot Latest Addition to Robosapien Family Due Early 2007

02

April

I am just about to order my Robosapien V2 when i got this piece of news. WowWee just launched their latest addition of Robosapien Family! a new robopet by the name of PEA bot, It runs on Segway technology and have a face made of LCD! How cool is that!!! Unfortunately PEA Bot will not be available until the end of the year (thats when Xmas are, remember? DUH!)

The P.E.A.BOT is an initial prototype Robosapien that won’t be available until early 2007. He is powered by the Segway motion technology and also includes an LCD screen in the head to add personality. It has IR, programmable personality, dynamic arm movement, and even gaming on the LCD screen. Best of all, the P.E.A. BOT included a back-mounted holster perfect for holding cans.
PEA Bot uses Segway self-balancing technology and can book along at a few miles per hour. Fortunately, it has no snapping teeth.

The bot is about 18 inches high, and it’s the first non-Segway product to use Segway technology. Unlike the full-size Segway, with the PEA Bot, you can dial in varying levels of imbalance, to give the toy a more animated, or drunken, look. There’s also a flip-down cup holder on the bot, so you can use it to send a beer to a friend across the room. Be sure to turn up the stability first.

Like WowWee’s RoboSapien, the PEA Bot can run either in remote control mode or in programmed semiautonomous mode. It will avoid walls and obstacles and can pick itself up if it falls. However, it has no cliff sensors, so it will drive itself right off a table or a flight of stairs.

The new bot should sell for about $200 when it ships later this year. [Source]

Since Childhood I have always been facsinated by Robots, and eversince i started making my own money i have been collecting various types of robots.

Sony QRIO is not your average daily type of robot, Infact QRIO is not even a robot, QRIO is a humanoid.

QRIO (”Quest for cuRIOsity”, originally named Sony Dream Robot or SDR) was to be bipedal humanoid entertainment robot marketed and sold by Sony to follow up on the success of its AIBO toy. QRIO stood approximately two feet (0.6m) tall and weighed 16 pounds (7.3kg). Its features and capabilities were comparable to Honda’s Asimo, though far superior in balance and movement, partially due to the smaller size and weight of its body. QRIO’s slogan was “Makes life fun, makes you happy!

Walkie Bits - Tiny Robotic Crawling Turtles

March

Walkie Bits is kinda cute and entertaining but if you are rushing against time, a turtle crawling about your work desk is not really a good idea.

This tiny turtle crawls around your desk as would any turtle (except it seems happy, because of its wagging tail.), You can tap its shell up to 15 times in the rhythmic pattern of your choosing, and it will chirp it back to you. It can also play Leopold Mozart’s Toy Symphony.Get a few, to keep each other company, or to turn your cube into Churchill Downs.
