MSI Mega View 588 Portable Media Player

Good battery life, big storage, ergonomics buttons plus lotsa other features. If you are looking for a good media player, then look no further MSI MegaView 588 is definitely a good buy!

This little 20GB hard-disk player player handles MPEG-4 and DivX video, plays your MP3s, allows you to browse photos, and also has a built-in FM radio. There are several things about his video player we liked right out of the box. It has a clearly labelled volume rocker on the top, and the other controls have a simplicity and ease of use which is one of the few weaknesses of similiar products from Archos.

It’s got a handsome, good quality, crisp 89mm (3.5-inch) screen, although in 4:3 format alas, not widescreen. We were impressed by the video playback quality. It has a removable SD card on the top, and it passed the get-it-out-of-the-box-and-plug-it-in test with flying colours. We were able to power it up, connect it via USB to a PC, drag and drop DivX files to the player’s folders and start watching video in record time.

Mobiblu DAH-1500i Smallest Cube Size MP3 Player

04

April

Mobiblu DAH-1500i is one of the World’s smallest MP3 player, weighting only 18grams this cube size MP3 players is packed with features and a quite satisfactory battery life too! REad on to know more!

Introduction

When it comes to digital audio players or MP3 players, size really matters. Size doesn’t just refer to physical dimensions, though. It also refers to storage capacity. Typically, smaller players have less storage capacity (256MB to 4GB+ versus the 20GB+ of larger players), which means you can’t carry as many songs and files with you. You might think that physically smaller MP3 players are cheaper than larger players, but that’s often not the case. With technology, small physical size generally costs more just like bigger storage capacity costs more.

Today, it’s time to review some digital audio player goodness in the form of a 2GB mobiBLU DAH-1500i Cube Digital Audio Player, one of the smallest MP3 players in the world. The DAH-1500i is 24mm cubed, which means it is just under one inch tall, wide and deep.

The DAH-1500i comes in blue, red, pink, orange, black and silver, and you can choose from three different capacities: 512MB, 1GB and 2GB (which was recently released).

SanDisk Sansa™ e200 Series Media Player

02

April

Sandisk are pretty well known with their memory modules but this is the first attempt to break into the MP3 players market. Leading the way is the Sandisk Sansa e200, lets take a look at it shall we?

Sansa e200—SanDisk’s Flagship MP3 Player
The Sansa e200 series features a slim new design and a 1.8-inch (4.572 cm) TFT color screen (QCIF+) along with high-quality audio, photo viewing and video playback capabilities. It offers an industry-leading, 6GB capacity that holds more than 1,400 MP3 songs2. It is also available in 2 and 4GB models. Its large color screen is ideal for easily viewing playlists, photos and personal videos.

Its distinctive, high-strength and lightweight back cover is made with an advanced Titanium alloy from Liquidmetal® Technologies that is stronger than steel and highly resistant to scratches and wear. It includes a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery for long playtime and can be replaced by the customer to ensure the player provides many years of continuous service. Dimensions of the Sansa e200 are 1.7 in. wide x 3.5 in. long x 0.5 in. high (4.4 cm wide x 8.9 cm long x 1.3 cm high).

For instant access to millions of digital songs, the Sansa e200 series players will support Microsoft® PlaysForSure™ so consumers can download and pay for songs individually or download an unlimited amount of music for a flat monthly subscription fee from music stores such as Rhapsody To Go® and others.

The Sansa e200 includes other features to enhance the listening and viewing experience.
These include:

  • Icon-based menu for easy navigation
  • Slideshow function to conveniently view photos and play music simultaneously
  • FM tuner with on-the-fly recording to save your favorite songs or programs
  • microSD™ expansion slot for additional memory capacity and support for SanDisk TrustedFlash™ and gruvi™ content cards that can be shared with mobile phones
  • Universal accessory connector for the easy addition of future accessories.

The Sansa e200 Series MP3 players are the flagship products of SanDisks audio line. Created by the leaders in flash memory, this flash-based player provides everything you need for music, photo, and video clip playback.

The very attractive, sleek design includes a 1.8 TFT color screen with advanced navigational features and an easy to use interface. You can also avoid scratches and cracks with the durable Liquidmetal backing. The Sansa e200 provides superior sound playback and supports Microsoft PlaysForSure subscription music. The SanDisk Media Converter supports most image formats to enjoy photos and small

personal videos.

The good: The SanDisk Sansa e200 series combines copious features such as subscription compatibility, an FM tuner/recorder, voice recording, and photo and video playback into a compact and durable device. We like the tactile navigation wheel, as well as the well-designed software interface. The user-removable battery and the Micro SD slot are nice touches, and the device has decent sound quality, processor performance, and battery life. Finally, the Sansa e200 is durable and attractive, and it offers a competitive price in a high-stakes world of high-capacity flash players.

The bad: The buttons surrounding the SanDisk Sansa e200’s scrollwheel can be difficult to press; the mechanical scrollwheel can tire out some thumbs; photos and video must go through conversion with bundled software; the expansion slot can be used with music only, not photos or other media or data; and recordings are made only in WAV. The scrollwheel is not as easy to use as the iPod Click Wheel. Low levels of system noise can heard through headphones at low or zero volume. [Source]
There is no resume function, the tracks do not play in the correct album order, and there is no custom EQ. All of these are possible to fix in the firmware, so hopefully SanDisk will fix them in the near future. The tactile scroll wheel works but it doesn’t feel right, the controls could have been better with a different type of interface.
